Gelato on the Riva
Gelato is a required daily snack no matter where you are in Europe and luckily enough Croatia has plenty of options for the experienced connoisseur. In Split, head to the Riva (a palm tree lined promenade by the harbor) for a variety of gelato stands fronting the fancy seaside restaurants. You'll pay an extra kuna (about 15 cents) here for a scoop, but it's worth it to sit next to the harbor and watch visitors, merchants, and performers while doing your best to beat the heat.
Locate the stand that serves up “After Eight,” a creamy white mint gelato covered with a rich dark chocolate fudge.
