Bottiglieria (Pigneto)

A 10 minute train ride from the city center (and a 15 minute walk from Torpignattera), and you’ll find Rome’s Pigneto neighborhood. Recently considered the epitome for local hipsters, (see http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/23/travel/in-rome-an-enclave-of-cool.html) Pigneto offers awesome street art, a boatload of cool restaurants and bars, and a more local vibe than anywhere in the city center. Our favorite wine bar, Bottigliria, is within walking distance of the tram from Termini (3 Euros) and has a fun outdoor patio. Split a bottle of red (you won’t find any bad wine here) or sip on a campari spriz and enjoy the fact that you’re the only tourists in the restaurant.
