Killing Fields of Choeung Ek
The former site of mass genocide in Phnom Penh during the Khmer Rouge regime in the late 1970’s, a visit to Choeung Ek is a lesson in Cambodia’s recent and tragic past. A wonderful and informative audio guide leads visitors through the orchards and mass graves, in a rural area just outside the city.
The audio guide is incredible, but also make sure to give an offering of flowers or incense at the stupa erected in the middle of the field which honors the victims.
You’ll need to get there by tuk tuk (see below for price)
The audio guide and tour lasts about one hour and is included in the entrance fee
($$) - Tuk tuk: about $10, Entrance fee: $6
