Wat Pho

As one of Bangkok’s oldest temples, Wat Pho is the first in a list of six temples that have been classified as the “highest grade” of Royal temples in Thailand. The temple houses the largest collection of Buddah images (more than 1,000) in Thailand, and includes the famous 150 foot long reclining Buddah. Four great chedis make up the temple grounds, each of which is a different style and size. Originally intended as a place of public education, Wat Pho is considered the first public university of Thailand, teaching religion, science and literature, as well as traditional Thai Massage.
