Cala-hopping in Mallorca

​Living less than 200 miles away in Valencia, it’s hard to understand why it took us so long to go to Mallorca. The largest of the Balearic Islands archipelago, Mallorca (also spelled Majorca) is home to some of the most absolutely epic beaches we’ve ever seen. 

The calas (coves, in Spanish) of southeast Mallorca, near Cala D’Or (where we stayed) in particular, are incredible. The beaches are small, but the water is crystal clear and incredibly calm. Although a very touristy island (especially the Cala D’Or area), the never-ending and completely stunning coastline of Mallorca, along with its calm waters made it easy to relax among the throngs of German and British tourists. 

​We spent the days lazily lying on the beach, hiking to hidden calas, and leaping off clifftop perches into the cool water of the Mediterranean. Less than 45-minutes flying from Valencia, it’s safe to say we’ll be back soon!
